Ryan’s life has been an exciting adventure. He first saw the light of day in Harare, Zimbabwe, but at the tender age of 5, his family emigrated to South Africa. Throughout his adult life, Ryan has enjoyed an extensive range of career opportunities – from working at the Sun International Hotel Group in South Africa to The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle, once the residence of the great Andrew Carnegie, in the Scottish Highlands. He has also shared his expertise at Majestic Wine in London, the Playa Vik Hotel in Uruguay, and during his adventures on board The Yachts of Seabourn as a Sommelier, traveling the world.
Ryan experienced a challenge upon his move to Uruguay in 2010: for the first time, he had to learn Spanish, while simultaneously saving enough money to start his first business. Nonetheless, with his unwavering determination and focus, The Wine Experience was created, which is now the World’s Largest Adventure Booking Platform for Multi- Day Trips to 188 destinations. He also launched a travel magazine, wine export business, and now, Universimm – Ryan’s foray into the tech space. Ryan’s story is a testament to the power of pursuing one’s true passions. When you do, the rest falls seamlessly into place.

“I was frustrated that social media was not relevant to my industry, which was wine at the time. First, I had the idea to create a social network specifically for wine, but then I thought: “Why don’t I make it much more relevant and focus on more interests, better social connections and like minded engagement!” – Ryan Hamilton
Universimm comes from the Latin word for Universe. By developing a social media network structured around interests as universes and topics as subuniverses, we’ve opened up a whole new universe of possibilities for creating meaningful global connections.
